Call for Papers
The organising committee of the ANATS National Conference to be held in Perth, Western Australia, September 2008 welcomes interested ANATS members to submit proposals for papers to be considered for this National Conference.
Proposals for papers in no more than 300 words should be submitted in electronic form in Microsoft Word to the Secretary, WA Chapter ANATS at the following email address :
dgnewman@cyllene.uwa.edu.au by WED APRIL 30th 2008.
Accepted proposals should be in the form of:
1) An oral presentation of approximately 20 minutes OR
2) A poster presentation.
Those submitting proposals will be notified of the outcome of their submission by JUNE 30th 2008, |

Private
Lessons with Jeannette LoVetri
Jeannette LoVetri will be available for a limited number
of private lessons, probably on Monday 22nd September.
The cost of lessons is not yet known, but there will be
provision on the registration form to indicate your interest.
If there is overwhelming interest, the suggestion that Jeannie
has made is that we hold a 'lottery' to determine who
gets the lessons.
Lessons will be at the participant's expense.
More info will be available when known.

Tour of WAAPA
(optional)

Maureen
Furr has arranged an optional tour of WAAPA on
Monday morning 22nd September.
This will provide an opportunity for delegates from the
other states to see behind the scenes at the Western Australian
Academy of Performing Arts and will include morning tea.
Julie Warn, Director of WAAPA is very pleased at the possible
opportunity of meeting you.
There will be provision on the registration form to book
for this tour. |

We have secured a limited amount of very reasonably priced
accommodation at St
Catherine's College and Trinity
Conference & Accommodation Centre, both an easy walk from the University of Western
Australia and a short drive from our Sunday venue in Kings
Park.

When will the registration form be available?
We are aiming
to have the registration form online after the Easter break.
Early bird registrations will close on 1st July.
Remember
that if you pay your registration by 30th June you can claim
part of the cost of the conference as a tax deduction in
the 2007-2008 tax year. |

Major Presenter: Jeannette LoVetri
The WA Chapter is thrilled to announce that our major
presenter for the 2008 conference will be Jeannette
LoVetri.
Jeannette is in demand as one of the world's top specialists
in training singers for contemporary commercial music of
all styles.
She is the Founder and Director of The
Voice Workshop™ and creator of Somatic
Voicework™, a unique body-based voice training
program.
Jeanette LoVetri is a past president of the New York
Singing Teachers' Association, a member of the National
Association of Teachers of Singing (USA) and secretary
of the American Academy of Teachers of Singing.
Her students can be heard in leading roles on Broadway
and in national tours, as well as on network television,
in film and in major concert halls. In addition to her
work with singers she has published major articles in the
field of voice science and in 1999 she was awarded the
prestigious Van Lawrence Fellowship by the Voice Foundation
for her significant contribution to voice science in the
teaching of singing.

Classical Presenters to be announced soon
The organizing committee believe that Jeanie will be a big
attraction for the contemporary and music theatre strands
of the conference. However we are not neglecting the classical
strand and hope to announce our classical presenters soon. |

ANATS 20th Anniversary
Remember that the 2008 conference is the 20th anniversary
of ANATS. We are planning some special 'birthday' celebrations
for all delegates.
Make sure that you make your travel arrangements early so
you can take advantage of cheaper deals with the airlines. |
Meet the Conference Organisers
Conference Theme
The theme for this event is "Sing Into Spring" -
taken from the inspirational Western Australian wildflower season
which peaks around conference time.
Conference Programme in Brief
Thursday evening 18 Sep (Venue 1: UWA Club)
All venues are booked and the Welcome Cocktail Party is scheduled
for 6.30pm on the Thursday at the beautiful University of Western
Australia Club which is located on the UWA campus and enjoys views
of Matilda Bay on the Swan River.
Friday 19 Sep, Saturday 20 Sep (Venue 1: UWA Club)
Activities on the Friday and Saturday will take place on the
UWA campus, with catering provided by the Club.
Delegates can visit the Club Cafe or
Restaurant (at their own expense) for their evening meals during
the conference should they so desire.
Sunday 21 Sep (Venue 2: Frasers in King Park)
On the Sunday the conference will move to Frasers in Kings
Park overlooking Perth Water and the city.
There will be a special celebration
to mark the 20th anniversary of ANATS.
