How To Join ANATS

You are warmly invited to apply to become a member of ANATS – the Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing.

 Steps to join ANATS :

  1. READ the CODE OF ETHICS and ensure that you agree with its principles,
  2. PRINT AND COMPLETE the Application Form carefully;
  3. ENSURE you are able to substantiate your category if required to do so;
  4. OBTAIN endorsement from a financial member of ANATS who will act as your sponsor. If there is a problem with this for any reason (e.g. because of your location), please contact the National Secretary (click here for contact details) and we will be able to help you;
  5. MAIL your completed Application Form with credit card details/cheque/money order to the ANATS Secretariat at the National Office (address shown in the sidebar on the right of this page). DO NOT send credit card details by email. Email is NOT secure.
  6. COMPLETE the Website and Teachers Directory Application Form if you wish to be included on the ANATS website ‘Find A Teacher’ section and/or the printed Teachers Directory (additional fee applies).

 

Membership entitles you to a year’s subscription to ANATS publications including an update on coming events, keeping you in touch with all that is happening in voice teaching in Australia.

Full Members and Affiliates can participate fully in all ANATS activities.

Code Of Ethics

Membership of ANATS implies the member’s ongoing commitment to:

  • Professional and ethical conduct that reflects credit on the individual teacher and the profession as a whole
  • Competence, honesty and integrity in all dealings with students and other members of the singing and allied professions
  • Truth and avoidance of ambiguity in their statement of qualifications
  • The realistic appraisal of a student’s career prospects as a singer
  • The avoidance of careless or malicious injury, whether directly or indirectly, to the reputation, prospects or business of other members
  • The abstention from proselytising the students of other teachers
  • The active development of his or her skills and vocational knowledge in the pursuit of professional excellence

 

Membership Categories

Full Member
a) A person holding a degree or diploma appropriate to the teaching of singing and who has had three years of singing teaching experience; or
b) A person with five years of private music study and three years of singing teaching experience.
Associate
A beginning teacher of singing whose training and/or teaching experience does not meet the requirements for Full Membership.
Affiliate
A person who is involved in activities allied to the teaching of singing.
Life Member
a) Life Membership may be conferred by Council on any person without payment of any fee.
b) Any Full Member may apply for Life Membership which will be granted on payment of a one-time Life Membership fee equal to ten (10) times the appropriate annual Full Membership fee applicable at the time of application.
Student Member
Any person who holds a full-time student identification card and who is involved in activities allied to the teaching of singing.
Joint Member
Any persons in a professional partnership of no more than two people where at least one member of the partnership is entitled to Full Membership of the Association.
Corporate Member
Schools, music schools (not colleges or tertiary institutions) and choirs, entitling any employee of the Corporate Member to attend ANATS functions and workshops at the rate offered to Full Members and other benefits as considered appropriate by the National Council.
Friend
Any person who supports the objectives of the Association but who does not qualify for admission under any other category, including students of singing teachers who do not hold full-time student identification cards. Also suitable for overseas people who wish to receive ANATS publications.
