2012 is already proving to be an amazing year, filled with adventure and possibility!
In January we held our very first ‘Singing Teachers’ Forum’. Although the group was small, we hope that it marks the beginning of a shared journey for many of our members. Please join us at the next forum on April 22nd – it is a wonderful opportunity to share some time and experience with each other.
On February 12 we had a full-day session on ‘The Psychology of Enhancing Performance’ with Psychologist Alexandra Frost. It proved to be a fulfilling day in which Alex extended on the information she shared with us in the 3-hour session last year. I particularly enjoyed the impromptu performance of some of the masterclass participants with the presenter – what wonderful music! The Carclew venue was particularly pleasant and so we have decided to hold the rest of our major sessions in 2012 in this wonderful building.
Our next major session will be on 2nd & 3rd June with Ron Morris. Ron is an audiologist, speech therapist, teacher of the Accent Breathing Method, and counter-tenor. His session will mainly focus on accent breathing and as such will be limited to about 12 participants to allow for more individual attention. Please do not delay in registering for this session once you receive the pamphlet (in April) if you wish to participate.
The final session for the year will be on Nov 18th. The details for this 3-hour session are still yet to be finalized, but it will begin at 1pm and will be followed by our state AGM at 4.15pm. Please mark this date in your diaries so that we can have a good representation of our membership at this AGM.
Finally I’d like to inform you that our secretary, Naomi Hede, has had to take leave due to family illness. Until a temporary secretary is appointed, please direct any queries regarding ANATS to me at
stella.panozzo@adelaide.edu.au until further notice. Our best wishes are with Naomi and her family. We also have a position available on our chapter committee and welcome any interested member to apply for this position.
