A fabulous weekend with one of our country’s experts in contemporary voice! Sessions include riveting info on anatomy, physiology, alignment & breathing for all styles, microphone technique, and repertoire. Master Classes with pianist Tom O’Hallaran each day.
Here’s what one young singer said about the weekend last year in 2011:
Irene Bartlett is an incredible and striking woman. As soon as she started talking, I understood what she was saying straight away, and wanted to hear more. She commanded my attention, and I developed a deep respect for her as I realised that I had gotten myself into a terrific place where I could learn so much whilst being nurtured and challenged.
I felt allowed to be involved and really appreciated her knowledge on classical and contemporary singing. Her vocal anatomy class was amazing and gave me an increased understanding of my soft palette placement.
I loved working on the vocal warm-ups on the second day, and I learnt that you need to warm down, which was so valuable and new to learn. I then offered to do the Music Theatre Masterclass, and I am so incredibly glad I did. I learnt to relax into my performance which was freeing and I learnt that I overarticulate and use my jaw too much. She gave me numerous, fun, and innovative exercises to use my lips and tongue for articulation instead. Irene was complimentary, inspiring,
respectful, and insightful.
I would definitely do more training with her in the near future at any
opportunity. I am so thankful for my allowed participation in the workshop.

A night of youth & talent. An elegant evening of vocal repertoire from Year 12 Voice students.

North Perth Eisteddfod 2012
Coming up in August/September 2012!
ANATS WA Chapter continue to sponsor the Junior Singing Award at the North of Perth Music Festival. Students aged between 15 & 17yrs, who are students of ANATS members are invited to enter. 1st Prize $200 2nd Prize $50. Schedules available soon from all music stores, teachers and Bayswater Shire web site. A recital of 3 songs from different eras are required, but should not include Opera or Oratorio. Musical theatre may be included.
